Ingredients
1 cup fresh strawberries (hulled and chopped)
2 tablespoons cornflour (cornstarch)
2 tablespoon sugar (adjust to taste)
1/2 cup condensed milk
1 cup water (or milk, optional for creamier texture)
2 tablespoon chocolate chips (dark or semi-sweet)
Directions
- Make strawberry puree:
In a blender, blend the chopped strawberry until smooth.
Optional: Strain the puree for a smoother custard (especially if seeds are not desired). - Prepare Custard Base:
In a saucepan, (off the heat}, mix cornflour and sugar together.
Add the strawberry puree while stirring gradually to avoid lumps.
Add the condensed milk and water ( or milk) and whisk until smooth. - Cook the Custard:
Place the saucepan on medium heat.
Stir constantly until the mixture thickens, this takes about 8-10minutes.
Once thickened to a custard consistency, remove from heat. - Add Chocolate Chips:
While still hot, stir in the chocolate chips.
Let them melt partially for a swirl effect or fully for a chocolatey layer.
Alternatively, sprinkle chocolate chips on top when serving. - Serve:
Pour into serving bowl or glasses.
Serve warm or chilled. For chilled custard, refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
Garnish with extra strawberry slices or melted chocolate if desired.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, replace water with full cream milk.
- Adjust sweetness based on sweet your strawberry or condensed milk are.
- You can fold in a few extra chopped strawberries before chilling for texture.
